Bridget Nancy Haggerty, nee O'Flaherty, who has passed on at the age of 70, Sunday June 4th 2017 on the Pentecost. She was a loving Wife of over 50 years, proud Mother to three and Grandmother to five, a lover of life and laughter. She was an accomplished Award Winning Copywriter for over forty years, Author and Expert of Irish History and Culture.
Born in Wimbledon England to the late Edward O'Flaherty and late Lena O'Flaherty on June 14th 1946, Bridget immigrated to Greater Boston in 1961 and was proudly the first Bicentennial Citizen of the year 1976, especially as what she called herself, a "flag day baby". Bridget first began her career in advertising as a copywriter for Shillito’s Department Store in downtown Cincinnati in 1972. Bridget's career blossomed over the next 40 years as a copywriter for multiple agencies, and as a Freelance Copywriter. She was known to have the ability to handle any project with tenacity, and relished the versatility with clients such as The Delta Queen, The Environmental Protection Agency, and the Cincinnati Zoo. She won multiple awards for her agency work as well as in her freelance career that spanned over 40 years.
After planning an Irish wedding for her own daughter Catherine, Bridget went on to author “The Traditional Irish Wedding", considered the quintessential tool for those seeking to include Irish heritage in their nuptials, and lives. In recent years Bridget, alongside her husband Russell, continued bringing her expertise in her own heritage to interviews on radio, in print as well as to her own website Irish Culture and Customs (www.Irishcultureandcustoms.com) with thousands of avid fans, and subscribers the World over.
Bridget was an avid dancer, incredible cook and in her own whimsical way one of the funniest most affable people many had, or any could have had the pleasure to meet. Her family hopes she has once again kicked off her shoes. “Roll up the rug. Let’s dance”…….

Bridget Haggerty was one of a kind. Funny, thoughtful, and the best friend a person could every hope to have. We shared so many good and bad times together, but even in the bad times, we became closer. Her passing was the saddest day of my life. I feel lucky to have said goodbye to her two hours before she passed. I'll never forget her smile as she mouthed "I love you" as I left. That's the memory I'm going to remember.
