Elizabeth Helen Bluemel
September 5, 1917- June 9, 2017
Elizabeth (Betty, Liz) lived an active and full life of 99+ years.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Antol and Mary Bosze. Her Hungarian immigrant parents entered the United States through Ellis Island.
Elizabeth was raised in the Over the Rhine area of Cincinnati.
She married Harold Bluemel in 1941. After Pearl Harbor, her husband (Harold ) joined the Marines in 1942. She then accompanied him as he was transferred to several duty stations. One of her various jobs as she was on the move was at the San Diego Aircraft Company. There she worked as a Rosie Riveter team member, assembling the aluminum door gunner panels for B24 Liberator Bombers.
Her first child (Judith) was born at a Naval Hospital at Cherry Point, North Carolina. Their living quarters was a military Quonset Hut.
Returning home they bought a home in Price Hill, Resurrection Parish to raise their three children.
Always active she was a milk mother, scout leader and officer in the PTA. Always available to help and volunteer around the parish.
She was an excellent seamstress, went to tailoring and millinery school and taught sewing at Singers and later at home. Her many quilts are a legacy to her family.
After her husband passed away she moved to a condominium in Delhi Hills, she traveled and belonged to Delhi and Dunham Senior Centers.
Never idle, she volunteered and participated in many activities at both centers.
She could be quite the character and never knew a stranger. She will be missed by many.
Independent, Living on her own, still driving her car., she drove to the library the day of her stroke. Her son Patrick checked on her frequently stopping by for a visit or to fix or mend something in the condo. This gave peace of mind to her two other children knowing that he was checking in on her.
She has left behind three children, Judith Rusk, Michael Bluemel ,and Patrick Bluemel. Four grandchildren, Jason Rusk, Lauren Lipps, Leah Bluemel, Logan Bluemel, and a great grandchild Alexa Hope Rusk.
Our mothers wishes were to be cremated and no open services will be held

Sorry for your loss! I enjoyed our many interesting conversations when she came back to the pharmacy in Walgreens. Such a pleasant and friendly lady.
