Steve Clifford

Steve Clifford

Steven Anthony Clifford 62, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 4th, 2018.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Doris Clifford (nee Dawson) of 43 years. Devoted father of Julie (Heather Goodale) Clifford and Angel (Tim Baird) Clifford. Beloved grandfather of Brandon and Steven Clifford. Cherished son of Ruth Clifford and the late Thomas Clifford. Dear brother of Michael (Laurie), Kenneth (Barbara), Daniel (Carol), Donald (Becky) and the late Thomas ‘Tommy’ Jr. and the late Ronald Clifford. Treasured in law of Charlene Gill, Donald Miller, the late Verona Dawson and the late David Dawson. Many nieces: Stephanie, Christine, Marcie, Nicole and Holly. And nephews: Michael, Jason, Steven, Dominic, Ethan, Robert Fuleki (Laurie), and the late Paul Gill. Also many great nieces, great nephews and friends. His canine companions, Roscoe and Tia will also miss him dearly.
Steve was raised in Edgemont, a small community in Cincinnati. His family had a car lot ‘Clifford Motors’ alongside their home, where he learned to be a very good mechanic. His Dad, Tom, and their head mechanic, Dan McNeese, taught him many things as a young man and he eventually became a self-made business man.
Steve was a 1974 graduate from Woodward High. His English teacher, William ‘Bill’ Meloy, helped start the relationship of Steve and Doris by making Doris help Steve with his classwork when they were 12 and 13 years old, in the 8th grade. Their OWE teacher, Victor Craft, continued to keep them together and taught them both many lessons that they were able to use throughout their lives. Mr. Craft became their favorite teacher and cherished friend.
After graduation, Steve went on to several different jobs including, Tresler Comet gas station, Baker Truck & Tire and ran a tire store for Bob Diers on Colerain Avenue. He worked at Bill’s Battery for many years who gave him an opportunity to run an automobile air conditioning business on Crookshank Road. He later took over that business as his own. Steve’s Air Conditioning Service eventually moved over to Foley Road in Delhi.
Steve and his wife, Doris ran the business for nearly 30 years. Their daughters, Julie and Angel also helped at the shop during school breaks. They installed air conditioning in vehicles that came without air to many of the Ford dealerships in the tristate area. They were grateful to have them as their customers. Steve’s Air Conditioning Service also provided A/C recharges and repairs to customers in the area. The business thrived on repeat customers who highly recommended Steve and Doris to their friends and neighbors, which resulted in a successful business. Unfortunately, Steve had to give up his business for health reasons which nearly broke his heart because he loved his work very much.
Steve also enjoyed winters in Fort Myers, FL where he loved to fish, take boat rides, visit the flea market and spend time with family and friends.
Steve was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Any donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati who provided the best care, love and support to Steve and his family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday March 10th at the Radel Funeral Home located at 650 Neeb Road at 12:30 with services beginning at 2:00pm. Procession to St. Joseph Cemetery will immediately follow.
