Louise Henthorn was born September 1, 1922 to Della Cutter and James Grimes. She was the oldest of their 4 children with two older half brothers. Louise contracted polio and spent the majority of her 7th year in the hospital. Despite residual paralysis, she was able to keep current in school and eventually proudly wore the green and white of a Dayton High School cheerleader.
Louise was high energy, dedicated to God and family, yet lived for her next visit to the bowling lanes. She was defined by a quick wit and keen sense of humor. Although proud of her bowling trophies and weekly accomplishments, it was her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her greatest joy.
She married Ralph Walter Henthorn in September 1942 at the Epworth Methodist church in Ludlow, Kentucky. Ralph was on a weekend pass from the Air Force. As with many couples during World War II, they were separated throughout their first 3 years of marriage while Ralph served as an airplane mechanic in Italy.
They were married for 64 years and had two children - Roger Ralph Henthorn and Vickie Henthorn Law.
Louise and Ralph were long term members of first Westminster Presbyterian Church and then College Hill Presbyterian Church.
Louise set up neighborhood leagues at Western Bowl which began a passion and recreation for her through the last months of her life. She was also a dedicated volunteer at Providence Hospital of Cincinnati.
Having remained in her own home and bowled through the age of 96, Louise quietly passed into Glory at the Western Hills Retirement Village on Monday, January 28. Finally, she loosed the shackles which held her body captive to a mind worn out.
Surviving relatives are: Roger (Gail) Henthorn, Vickie (Bill) Law: Grandchildren. Jennifer (Bradley) Hacker, Jason Law, Kevin (Muriel) Law, and Lauren (Trey) Akers; Great grandchildren Madison and Carter Hacker, Olivia and William Law, and Avery and Caden Akers.

Dear Gale, roger, Vicky and family, I had the pleasure of being Louises Hairstylist for the past 12 + years. We had some great laughs and conversations. She was a wonderful lady and loved her family. She will always have a place in my heart. She didn’t know my family but they knew her because of all the laughs she gave me I would share with them. She sure did love her sweets and she never turned down a piece of chocolate. I am sorry for your loss and I’m happy she gets to be with Ralph. She couldn’t say enough good things about him. Louise you will never be forgotten. Anita
