Mary Elizabeth (Nee; Pollman) Leist passed away on March 11th, 2019 with her husband, son and daughter by her side. Mary was born May 24th, 1948 at St. Mary’s hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was raised by her parents Ben and Mary and was the oldest of 7 siblings. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes for grade school and graduated from Mother of Mercy High School in 1966. She met her husband, Bob in 1965 on teen night at a dance club on Glenway Ave. They were engaged in 1967 and married at Our Lady of Lourdes on May 11th, 1968. She worked in the cashier’s office at the University of Cincinnati for 2 years after high school. After that Bob went into the Navy, so they moved to Virginia and started their family. They returned to Cincinnati in 1972 and purchased the home they currently live in on Bandanna in Delhi in 1974. She worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Training Center for developmentally challenged children from 1977 until 1981. From there she moved to Margaret B Rost school and continued her work with developmentally challenged children until retiring in 2005.
Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert; son and daughter in-law Rob and Diana; daughter Cara and her precious grandchildren Abigail and Nolan.
She is also survived by her mother, Mary Pollman, sister Teri (Al) Boland, brothers Greg, Gary, Mike and Mark, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Bernard and sister Amy.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at St. Simon the Apostle Church (825 Pontus Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45233) Saturday, March 16th beginning at 9 am, followed by a mass at 10 am. A lunch reception will be held after mass at Plagge Hall next to the church and everyone is welcome to come share memories of Mary.

I still can't believe she is gone. Mary always sent the first card for birthdays and Christmas. She always celebrated anything that was important in everyone's lives. Cara, we can't thank you enough for bringing her to our dinners over the past years. It was a blessing to have had her friendship for 40 years. You are an awesome daughter and now a friend to all of us too. Continued prayers for healing for all of you. We will miss her greatly.

I am deeply saddened by your death. I will miss you greatly. Our Rost retirement group won't be the same without you my friend. May you rest in peace until we meet again. I am sorry to miss your memorial service as you know, I am in Florida. Love ya, Teri Ludwig
